Waiting on Wednesday #12 - Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted on Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection by me is:

Afterworlds

Author: Scott Westerfeld

Publication Date: 23rd September 2014

Publisher: Simon Pulse

Page Count: 608 Pages
(Hardcover)

Summary from Goodreads:

Darcy Patel has put college and everything else on hold to publish her teen novel, Afterworlds. Arriving in New York with no apartment or friends she wonders whether she's made the right decision until she falls in with a crowd of other seasoned and fledgling writers who take her under their wings…

Told in alternating chapters is Darcy's novel, a suspenseful thriller about Lizzie, a teen who slips into the 'Afterworld' to survive a terrorist attack. But the Afterworld is a place between the living and the dead and as Lizzie drifts between our world and that of the Afterworld, she discovers that many unsolved - and terrifying - stories need to be reconciled. And when a new threat resurfaces, Lizzie learns her special gifts may not be enough to protect those she loves and cares about most.

I have never read a Scott Westerfeld book but I've heard great stuff about it. Also, this book seems really interesting and there's a lot of hype about it so I can't wait to read it:)

  1. I've never read a book by this author either even though I've been meaning to read the Uglies series forever. But this series also sounds good so I hope to read this one as well!

  2. I have read some of Westerfeld's books and liked them (though for some reason I have never finished one of his series, even if I liked the first book).

  4. I'm reading it right now, whoo! Enjoying it, though I'm preferring one side than the other, it's very...different, that's for sure. Interesting though, especially since it's kind of a behind-the-scenes look at publishing. :)
